This French-style garden villa features a half-round balcony, Tuscan colonnade, red tile roof, and three white chimneys. The Mo family were pioneers of China’s modern silk industry.
Next door, No. 4 Wukang Road was built in 1945 by Mo’s son-in-law Cai Shengbai (a Lehigh University engineering graduate who led the Mei Ya Silk Factory). Designed by renowned architect Xi Fuquan, this modernist reinforced-concrete villa now serves as the Mo family’s private museum. The family descendants later bought back both properties — a rare story of heritage reclaimed.
